Board User-Level Requirements

The boards listed in this section are all boards that have specific requirements to either view, post topics on, or post messages in topics.

Note

Notwithstanding the specific requirements of the boards within this section:

  • You must be at least level 0 to read any of the boards.
  • You must be at least level 5 to post messages on any of the boards.
  • You must be at least level 10 to post topics on any of the boards.
  • Moderators can read all of the private boards.

Administrator-Controlled Private Message Boards

  • Life, the Universe, and Everything
    • Only users who signed up for LUE in January 2004 can visit it. To sign up, users had to have a user ID no higher than #888113. All moderators and administrators can also post on LUE.
  • The Space Bar
    • For usernames that contain spaces. Reconciled usernames that formerly contained spaces, as well as moderators and administrators, can also access this board.
  • Mine is Bigger Than Yours
    • For usernames with 16 or more characters. Reconciled usernames that formerly contained 16 or more characters, as well as moderators and administrators, can also access this board.
  • TOS Discussion
    • Set up to discuss possible changes to the ToS. The only users who have access to this board are the 100 highest karma users at the time of the board's creation and the general and specialist moderators at the time of the board's creation.
  • Beta Test
    • For discussion of future changes to the GameFAQs site. Only administrators, moderators, and certain selected users can access this board.
  • New Posting Engine Test
    • For discussion of the posting engine updates of 2014. Only administrators, moderators, and certain selected users can access this board.

User-Controlled Private Message Boards

Prior to GameFAQs allowing users to create their own "community boards", these boards were listed as "private boards", where the owners of these boards determined their own access and use requirements. Only those boards listed as private before the community board rollout are listed below. More information can be found on the Miscellaneous Questions page (see the What are private boards? question.

Level-Restricted Message Boards

These boards, as the name implies carry certain restrictions on viewing the boards, as well as posting messages and topics.

Closed Boards

The following seven boards were closed because users were making inappropriate posts on them. All user levels can view these boards, but only administrators (level 60) are able to post messages and topics on them.

Unique Boards

The following boards are boards that have unique requirements for posting messages and topics. All users can view these boards.

  • The Future of GameFAQs
    • Users level 31 and higher can post messages on the board.
    • Only administrators can post topics on the board.
  • Ask the Mods
    • Users level 15 and higher can create topics on the board, but can only post messages in their own topic.
    • Moderators (level 50+) can post messages in any topic.
  • GameFAQs Competitions
    • Users level 15 and higher can post messages on the board.
    • Moderators (level 50+) can post topics on the board.

The following boards are exclusively for moderators and administrators.

The following boards are restricted to specific user levels.

Restricted Social Boards

The following boards are restricted to users level 15 and higher.

Other Social Boards

The following boards can be viewed by all user levels, but posting messages and topics is restricted to users level 15 and higher.
